Who We Are
Evening Post Books is the award-winning book publishing division of Evening Post Publishing, proud owners of The Post and Courier. Based in Charleston, South Carolina, we specialize in books written by authors hailing from and writing about the South, including high-quality fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and other specialty publications. Like a true port city, we strive to share these Southern voices with the world.

Our History as a Southern Book Publisher
The stories of the South rarely ever interested the big publishers in the North, and the South didn’t have many publishing houses of its own. Pierre Manigault and John M. Burbage set out to change that when they founded Evening Post Books in 2008.

Since then, Evening Post Books has expanded far beyond just the Lowcountry. We’ve published more than 80 titles from a diverse group of Southern authors across the region.

Why should you publish with Evening Post Books?
The number one reason to publish through Evening Post Books is our flexibility. We collaborate very closely with our authors and contractors to create the books you want to see. We also have the ability to publish through physical and digital mediums. Additionally, we are happy to work with external resources brought forward by our authors and contractors, too. For example, if you know an artist who you’ve always wanted to work with, we are happy include them in the process.
The other reason to publish through Evening Post Books is our passion. Unlike large publishing houses, we have an intimate team that is wholly dedicated to every single project we take on. If you publish through us, your book will receive all the love and attention it deserves. And, especially for first time authors, we are happy to walk you through the publishing process and make your own journey as seamless as possible. As a traditional publishing house, we help with:
