Building Bridges Across Time and Race
Building Bridges Across Time and Race
Hilton Head Island, SC – On Saturday, March 23, 2024, the Lowcountry Coalition Against Hate and Campbell Chapel AME Church are co-hosting Building Bridges Across Time and Race, a powerful conversation of personal courage, difficult truths, and shared legacy.
Moderated by Dr. Gloria Holmes, the program will feature 3 South Carolina speakers, all of whom are linked by their personal histories. Polly Sheppard is a witness to, and survivor of, the 2015 Mother Emanuel Church massacre. Margaret Seidler is an author and descendant of SC slave traders. Mia McLeod is a descendant of formerly enslaved people tied to Ms. Seidler’s ancestors and currently serves as a SC Senator. These courageous women are joining together to discuss the present-day impact of these traumas.
This event will be held March 23, 2024, starting at 10 am at Campbell Chapel AME Church, 25 Boundary Street, Bluffton SC. There is free admission, with a suggested donation to Lowcountry Coalition Against Hate. The event includes free parking and refreshments.
The Lowcountry Coalition Against Hate is a local organization dedicated to promoting acceptance, understanding, and equality in the Lowcountry area. LCAH believes that all people should be treated with respect and dignity, and that no one should be excluded from participating in the social and political life of their community.
